Ideiasnet considers taking Officer public

Ideiasnet, a technology business investment company, is evaluating the possibility of holding an IPO for Officer, a distributor of computer-related products. According to Rodin Spielmann, Ideiasnet’s chief financial and investor relations officer, the company’s entrance on the market may take place during this year.

In addition to Officer, Ideiasnet holds interest in 18 other technology and communication companies, a list that includes companies such as Softcorp, Automatos, Bolsa de Mulher and Padtec. However, Officer is by far the largest of the company’s operations. Out of Ideiasnet’s R$900 million sales results – according to the announcement sent yesterday to the Brazilian Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM) – over R$800 million are pegged to Officer.

Ideiasnet itself has been listed on the São Paulo Stock Exchange (Bovespa) since June 2000. Last month, the Company joined the block of companies listed on Novo Mercado, but its plan to issue shares to raise R$400 million was canceled, under the claim that domestic and foreign market conditions were not favorable.

In Spielmann’s view, Officer’s detachment from the operations would not deflate Ideiasnet’s business. “Our interest in Office is strong in terms of sales, but we have other businesses”, he says.

Over the next months, the Company’s focus will be on presenting Ideiasnet to foreign investors, who today represent only 6% of the capital invested in the company. “70% of the investments in companies like Submarino and Bematech come from international investors”, Spielmann comments. “There is a lot of room for us to grow in that direction”.
