Company Profile:

Padtec is a pioneer company in the development and production of C and D - WDM solutions, along with high-tech equipment for applications in the optical layer of communications systems. Emerging from the R&D laboratories of the CPqD (the R&D arm of Telebrás before its breakup and privatization), Padtec has more than 20 years of experience in developing innovative optical communications equipment for telecom networks.

Business Model:

Padtec, through emphasis on R&D, brings new products to the market with international quality and performance standards. In six months, various new and pioneering products in Brazil were introduced, among them the Raman amplifier and DWDM with FEC for ultra-long distance interfaces.

Technology:

Wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) is a system for very high capacity data transmission, where information is transmitted via specific wavelengths - also called optical colors or channels. These multiple colors share a single optical cable, thus boosting its carrying capacity. The equipment made by Padtec can transmit at up to 400 Gb/s in a single fiber. The "transposer" is the unit that "colors" the data. In more technical language, it is what transposes the width of the data wave. Without this unit, WDM would be impossible. Padtec has developed a transposer that is compatible with the WDM equipment of competing manufacturers.
